Building Fire, December 1, 2009
At 1:11 am The North Bellmore Fire District received multiple calls for a building fire and possible explosion at 1759 Bellmore Avenue (the former location of the Smithville Cafe). Chief David Marschall was the first to arrive at scene and immediately transmitted a signal 10 or working building fire. In addition to the ten units from the North Bellmore Fire Department the Bellmore, East Meadow and Wantagh Fire Departments provided mutual aid to the scene, and the North Merrick Fire Department provided standby coverage at our firehouse. The fire was under control in approximately ninety minutes and the last unit left the scene by 6:02 am. The Nassau County Fire Marshal's Arson team was notified and their investigation is ongoing. Huckleberry Road House Fire, November 20, 2009
The North Bellmore responded to a working house fire on Huckleberry Road in North Bellmore at approximately 3:00 am and the last units finished at appoximately 6 am. The Bellmore Fire and East Meadow Fire Departments provided mutual aid coverage to the scene of the fire and the Merrick and Wantagh Fire Departments provided standby coverage at our firehouses. Fire Prevention Open House, October 4, 2009

Signal 10 House Fire, August 28, 2009
At 3:17 pm the North Bellmore Fire Department responded to an alarm for smoke coming from a house located on Siems Court. The first responding unit arrived at scene by 3:21pm and size up and "signal 10" was transmitted by Chief Randy Meierdierks to our dispatching center. The fire, which began in the kitchen was under control within twenty five minutes and the last units left the scene by 5:07pm. In total approximately thirty firefighters were on hand to extinguish the fire. Mutul aid coverage was provided at scene by the East Meadow and North Merrick Fire Departments and the Bellmore and Wantagh Fire Departments provided standby coverage in our quarters. Motor Vehicle Accident, Driver Ejected, January 14, 2009
The North Bellmore Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle accident on Newbridge Road in front of St. Raphael's Church. The driver lost control and was ejected from the vehicle upon impact. All occupants were transported to NUMC. Click here to view slideshow.

Investigation, August 18, 2008
North Bellmore Fire Department responded to an alarm for an investigation on Hart Avenue. The caller advised the dispatcher that there was a sink hole on the front lawn of her neighbor’s front lawn and lying next to the hole was a bicycle that led the concerned neighbor to wonder whether or not a child might have fallen into the hole. Upon arrival Chief Boland assessed the situation and immediately requested that in addition to our typical rescue response that the North Bellmore Fire Department’s Technical Rescue Team be called to action. Preparing for what might possibly be the worst case scenario, Chief Boland also requested mutual aid from Bethpage Fire Department’s Technical Rescue Team, a vacuum truck from the Town of Hempstead. Fortunately everyone was able to breathe a sigh of relief when it was determined that there were no aided in the sink hole. North Merrick and East Meadow Fire Departments also provided their assistance at the scene and Bellmore Uniondale and Wantagh Fire Departments provided standby coverage at our firehouses. Signal 10 House Fire, December 4, 2007
The North Bellmore Fire Department responded to an alarm for a house fire on Old Britton Road. Chief Randy Meierdierks was the first to arrive on scene and after a quick size up a "signal 10" was transmitted. Units immediately began an interior attack but due to strong winds that helped to spread the blaze and the rapidly deteriorating conditions inside the dwelling crews were forced to evacuuate the premises for their own safety and continue with an exterior attack. Car Hits Pole, Wires Down and Explode, November 7, 2007
At 4:42pm the North Bellmore Fire Department received a call for an automobile accident on Jerusalem Avenue. 1st Assistant Chief Al Boland, the first to arrive on scene, observed that the vehicle, which was on fire, struck a power pole and cracked it causing strain on the overhead wires. He immediately relayed his observation to the dispatcher and ordered LIPA to be contacted to provide a forthwith response and to have all arriving fire department units stay back at a safe distance. Shortly after the units arrived the sparking power lines fell completely on the vehicle, which was now fully envolved in flames, and exploded and the immedately surrounding residents were evacuated. Once LIPA arrived to shut off the power fire department personnel got to work extinguishing the blaze. However, it wasn't just the fire they had to deal with, besides the full tank of gas leaking from the vehicle, there were many hazardous materials that the driver was transporting and were now exploding that the fire department had to contain and contend with. There were no fire department injuries and luckily the driver of the vehicle was able to exit the car on his own quickly after impact. The Nassau County Fire Marshal's Hazmat Division was requested at the scene and the Bellmlore and East Meadow Fire Departments provided standby coverage at our station houses. Working Car Fire, September 26, 2007
At 2:14pm the North Bellmore Fire Department was alerted for a car fire on the Southern State Parkway. Fire Inspector Richie LoGuercio (Unit 6521) and Unit 6599 were first on scene and Inspector LoGuercio immediately advised that units would be responding to a "working car fire". Chief Al Boland responded shortly thereafter to take control of the scene. Unit 654 quickly extinguished the blaze and Unit 655 controled the fire to the surrounding grass and trees. Signal 10 House Fire, May 12, 2007
The North Bellmore Fire Department responded to an alarm for a basement fire at 4:23 a.m. on Saturday, May 12, 2007. First on arrival, Chief David Marschall observed that the dwelling was fully engulfed by flames and he immediately advised the dispatcher to realert the alarm as a signal 10 and mutual aid from the Bellmore, North Merrick, East Meadow, Wantagh and Uniondale Fire Departments was requested. Crews fought the blaze from inside the structure as well as outside but the blaze inside burned so fierce that conditions for the interior firefighters became extremely hazardous causing Chief Marschall to give the order to evacuate immediately and continue the attack from the outside. It took firefighters, under the command of Chief Al Boland III, approximately thirty minutes to get the fire under control and approximately two hours to complete the overhaul and pack up the units to return to quarters. At 8:19am the North Bellmore Fire Department responded to an alarm for a house fire on Grove Street. Units arrived upon a fully involved, second floor house fire and a "signal 10" was immediately transmitted.
